About the service
Seatrainer is an independent online service that gives access to trainers and study materials for self-paced preparation for the Marlins Test for Seafarers and the IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP).
The trainers are designed for seafarers and cadets who need to prepare for a specific task — passing the Marlins Test at a crewing agency or working confidently with IMO standard phrases on the radio. This is not a general English course: here you get 478 tasks in the exact Marlins format and 2231 standard phrases with real audio.
The question bank is structured by the sections of the official Marlins Test format (Listening, Grammar & Vocabulary, Reading, Time & Number); the SMCP audio course covers PART A and B (IMO Resolution A.918(22)). The service has been running since 2021 on the Moodle platform and is not affiliated with the rights holders of Marlins or the IMO.
